June is all about celebrating something super important: Pride Month! But what exactly is Pride, and how can we, as lash artists, be more inclusive in our salons?
Pride: A History of Fierceness
Pride Month remembers the Stonewall Riots of 1969 in Manhatten, a huge moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Back then, the LGBTQ+ community faced a lot of discrimination, and the Stonewall Riots were a powerful stand for equality. Today, Pride is a time to celebrate how far we've come, but also a reminder that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights continues.
Why We Celebrate Pride
Pride is all about love, acceptance, and being yourself, whoever that may be! It's a chance to show the LGBTQ+ community that they're welcome, loved, supported and seen. Plus, Pride is a whole lot of fun – think lots of color, parades, parties, and rainbows galore!
Making Your Salon an Inclusive Space
So, how can we, as lash artists, spread the Pride love? Here are some tips to being more inclusive in your salon:
- Gender neutral services: Products and services for everyone.
- Don’t make assumptions: It’s important to educate yourself if you're unsure.
- Beauty across generations: Services for clients of any age.
- Rethink your consultation form: Make sure you are inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Accessible and affordable products: Everyone deserves self care.
By creating a safe and inclusive space, you'll attract amazing clients who appreciate your open heart and great lash skills, of course!
