Getting Ready for 2025
The lash industry can be a rollercoaster. One day, you're booked solid, feeling like a lash boss. The next, you're staring at an empty appointment book, questioning your entire career path and whether you should just throw the towel in and give up. Or sometimes, it could be that you’ve started lashing and feel like you're struggling to take off and get the clients you need. It's a constant up and down, filled with both huge wins and challenges.
A common factor of feeling deflated, is comparison. Jamie, Head of Brand at LashBase, says “Become single-mindedly focused on what you are doing with your business. Do not watch others or compare yourself to others. They are on a different journey to you. The industry will grow again and you can come out on top if you can be consistent and driven. Keep learning and keep improving the experience you offer. The rest will follow.”
Remember, you're not alone. You can often feel very alone; running your own business - day in day out. But, many lash techs have experienced similar ups and downs. What matters is how you navigate these challenges and come through stronger.
Setting Goals for 2025
Setting clear, achievable goals is so key for staying motivated. Whether it's deciding to take on a new lash technique, increasing your client base by a certain number, or simply improving your work-life balance, having a goal to strive for can give you the direction and focus you need. Here are some questions to think about:
- What are the main 3 areas or goals you want to prioritize in 2025? What areas of your business needs more focus (new clients, new treatments, finances etc) and can you create smaller goals to reach where you want to get to?
- How do you want to feel at the end of 2025?
Create a vision board
A vision board is a visual representation of your goals and dreams. Whether you do a short term board or long term, it's a powerful tool that can help you stay focused, motivated, and inspired. Here's a simple guide to creating your own:
- Gather Your Materials:
Collect images from magazines, newspapers, or print them - include inspirational quotes etc.
- Define Your Goals:
Instead of a vague goal like "grow business," try something more specific, like "get 4 new clients per month”. Make sure they are realistic and achievable and if you have a major goal, break it down into smaller, more manageable steps.
- Choose Your Images:
Select images that visually represent your goals. For example, if your goal is to open a salon, choose images that will represent what it will look like. Include images that give positive emotions and inspire you.
- Display Your Vision Board:
Put your vision board somewhere that you'll see it daily, somewhere like your lash workspace, kitchen or bedroom wall. (If you put it in your salon, your clients will see that you’re working towards your goals, and often, they will support and encourage you to get there.)
Take time to review your vision board regularly to stay motivated! Remember: your dreams and goals won’t work unless you do!
Keep Lashing Forward
Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Keep your head up, stay positive, and continue to work on your skills. The lash industry is full of opportunities for those who are passionate and persistent. LEARNING is a great way to build confidence. Make sure you attend masterclasses and events, whether online or in person, read the blogs etc. The more you know and understand, the more confident you will feel!
Remember to keep lifting each other up and be supportive. Share your experiences, offer encouragement, and celebrate each other's successes.
